Hi, I'm Rey
Therapist for 13 years. Working mom of two. Former ABA program supervisor. Firm believer that people can change, and that therapy should give you skills, not just insight.
A little about me
My name is pronounced "Ray-oot," but a lot of people call me Rey.
I was born in Israel and moved to the US at two years old. I grew up in San Diego and, after some time in Los Angeles, decided to build my life here. I have two children and two long-haired dachshunds, so I understand the challenges of parenting young children, being a working mom, and juggling competing demands.
Before becoming a therapist, I supervised an ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) program helping families and children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Being a therapist has always been my dream. I love meeting people every day and helping them work toward a life that feels authentic and peaceful.
I received my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from San Diego State University, with additional training in CBT, Mindfulness, and EFT. I'm licensed in both California and Florida.
Therapy, tailored to you
I take an integrative approach, drawing on several evidence-based methods and shaping them around your unique needs and goals. In plain language, here's what that means.
Cognitive Behavioral TherapyCBT
Our thoughts, feelings, and actions are deeply connected. CBT helps you notice the unhelpful thought patterns that drive anxiety and low mood, question them, and practice new responses, skills you'll keep using long after therapy ends.
MindfulnessPresent-moment awareness
Much of our distress lives in replaying the past or rehearsing the future. Mindfulness practices train your attention to settle in the present, calming the body's stress response and creating space between a feeling and your reaction to it.
Emotionally Focused TherapyEFT
Beneath most conflict is a longing to feel safe and connected. EFT, used especially in couples work, helps partners recognize the negative cycle they're caught in (pursue, withdraw, repeat) and learn to turn toward each other instead.
Solution-Focused TherapyBuilding on what works
You already have strengths and past successes we can build on. Rather than dwelling only on problems, this approach gets concrete about the future you want and identifies the smallest next steps that move you toward it.
Narrative TherapyYou are not the problem
We all carry stories about who we are, and some of them were written by our hardest moments. Narrative therapy helps you separate yourself from the problem, re-examine those stories, and author ones that reflect your values and hopes.
"I know that coming into therapy can seem daunting and finding a therapist can be difficult, which is why I offer a free 15-minute consultation, so I can get to know you and your needs before you decide if you want to work together."Rey Landau, LMFT
